IBM ThinkPad T21 Review

IBM ThinkPad T21 T21 is second laptop from T-Series of ThinkPads, designed for highly mobile users. It does not differ a lot from T20. It comes with all great stuff as T20 like comfortable keyboard, UltraBay 2000 or useful gadgets like UltraPort or ThinkLight. All changes were to improve performance and quality of this product.

ThinkPad runs on the same chipset (Intel 440BX) as its predecessor. This means that FSB is the same (100MHz), supported memory type is PC100 SDRAM and maximum amount of memory installed is also 512MB. What differ in system core are processor speeds. Now you have a choice of Intel Pentium III Mobile ranging from 750MHz to 1GHz.

Another thing that is better in T21 are available hard drives. Now you can choose 10GB, 20GB or 32GB disk. However, they still run on Ultra-Ata/66 interface. Also DVD drives installed in T21 are 8x instead of 6x like in T20.

Last and probably the best improvement was change of XGA 14.1" matrix to SXGA+. It results in raise of maximum resolution that can be set from 1024 x 768 to 1400 x 1050.
